LIHI-Kalibo Faculty attains TQ-AQ status
In response to the mandate of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for all instructors of technical-vocational courses to be Trainor's Qualification (TQ) - Assessor's Qualification (AQ) certified by the end of the first quarter of this year, members of the faculty of instruction of Lifeline International Health Institute (LIHI) - Kalibo enlisted for the Training Methodology (TM) I and Assessor's Methodology (AM) I courses held at Aklan Training Center, Old Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan last January 21-28, 2009.
Mr. Ruis L. Marfil, an instructor in Home and Meal Management, enlisted for the said joint program; while Mr. Michael Christian B. Parel and Mr. Fritz Donald L. Parcon later joined in only for the AM I course, having completed their TM I requirements last December 19-23, 2008.
The eight-day joint program was organized in an effort by the TESDA provincial office to have the technical-vocational instructors comply with the office's mandate. Approximately 40 participants joined in the said program.
The course was spearheaded by Prov. Dir. Edwin S. Villanueva, CEO VI and Engr. Ludovico S. Menez, Jr., TESDA Specialist and focal person for program accrediations, with Mrs. Rhodora Brillantes as the resource speaker and assessor for both courses. Other assessors included Mrs. Nida Villanueva and Engr. Edwin Barrameda.
LIHI-Kalibo made a sterling performance during the assessments for both courses, with the comment "highly recommended" for assessorship and having complied with all the requirements and return demonstrations ahead the rest of the participants.
In a meeting of Association of TVET Schools in Aklan (ATSA), Prov. Dir. Villanueva reiterated the need for all technical-vocational schools to have at least two full-time faculty members with TQ-AQ certification for a specific course offered. "We will be conducting random compliance audits starting February. Any school that doesn't meet the requirements shall be subject to sanctions," said PD Villanueva.
To be TQ-AQ certified, the following criteria must be met by a candidate:
TQ= NC II + TM I + AM I
AQ= NC II + AM I
As of present, LIHI-Kalibo has four TQ-AQ certified instructors, to wit (with their respective qualifications):
BARSANAS, Wennie Jr. - Household Services NC II, Caregiving NC II, TM I, AM I
MARFIL, Ruis L. - Caregiving NC II, TM I, AM I
PARCON, Fritz Donald L. - Caregiving NC II, TM I, AM I
PAREL, Michael Christian B. - Caregiving NC II, Health Care Services NC II, TM I, AM I
REYES, Randall P. - Household Services NC II, Caregiving NC II, TM I, AM I
Mr. Barsanas and Mr. Reyes have complied with TM I and AM I on an earlier scheduled date.
The TM I and AM I courses are programs set by TESDA to enhance quality of instruction being delivered by technical-vocational instructors and to ensure that the technical-vocational students are trained at par with the standards set by the global community.
